World Cup Cricket 2011

27 Feb, 2011 - M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore

ICC World Cup 11th Match, India v England, Group B - England & India in thrilling tie

A brilliant 158 from Andrew Strauss saw England tie an extraordinary World Cup group match against India in Bangalore. Strauss along with Ian Bell put England in command with a 170-run second-wicket stand, before Zaheer Khan dismissed both batsmen in successive balls. England needed 14 from the last over, but fell one run short of victory needing two off the final ball.Earlier, India scored a mammoth 338 with the help of Tendulkar's 120-run knock which came off 115 balls (5 sixes and 10 fours). Tendulkar hit his 47th century off 103 balls as India crossed the 200-run mark in the 35th over. This is Tendulkar's fifth World Cup century - the most by any player in the world. This was just the fourth tied game in World Cup history.
India 338 all out in 49.5 overs (Tendulkar 120, Gambhir 51, Yuvraj 58, Bresnan 5-48) tied with England 338/8 in 50 overs (Strauss 158, Bell 69, Zaheer 3-64)

ICC World Cup 11th Match, India v England, Group B - First big test for India

India will face their first big test in the ongoing Cricket World Cup when they face England in a Group ‘B’ match at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. Strong contenders India beat Bangladesh in their first match while England wobbled a bit before getting past the Netherlands in their respective first outings. England captain Andrew Strauss has called on his side to ruin India's World Cup party as he believes England could conjure up a surprise. Both teams are likely to stick with the same starting XIs as in their first matches, with everyone available for the hosts apart from paceman Ashish Nehra. India captain Dhoni has warned his players they must forget about the emphatic nature of their victory over Bangladesh and not get carried away so early on in the tournament.
